Customer Installation Photos: Art Tiles in the Kitchen

emily — Fri, 08/19/2011 - 14:13

handmade ceramic art tile installed  It never fails to brighten my day when a customer takes the time to send me pictures of Emu Art Tiles in installed in their home.  Seeing all of the different ways in which people display and interact with my work reminds me that the world is full of possibilities, and gives me a feeling of connectedness.   An art tile installation is a collaboration between the person who makes the tiles, the person who decides where and how to display them,  and the person who actually installs them.  Since each of these steps is equally important, it is tremendously satisfying for me to see "the rest of the story."  So you can imagine how I felt when I opened my email and found these wonderful pictures from Kristen H:

She choose an assortment of 2"x2" art tiles in Cinnamon glaze, and had them installed them in her kitchen along with 1"x1" multicolored slate tiles from http://stonetiledepot.com/

This is the first time I have seen Cinnamon and natural stone together.  It looks amazing!  The art tiles bring out the reddish brown in the stone.  And the gray in the slate looks perfect with the soapstone countertop.  I also love how the smaller field tiles give the two inch art tiles a feeling of extra importance.

What a great kitchen.  Thank you, Kristen, for taking and sending such lovely pictures!
