Some projects feel more like collaborations than commissions, and this one definitely falls into that category. Recently, I had the privilege of collaborating with Canadian enamel artist Tim Laurin for his exhibition at the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery in Waterloo, Ontario. The fireplace in a beach house in South Carolina just got an upgrade! The homeowners chose a mix of seaside plants and animals for their fireplace feature tiles- so fitting for the coastal setting. The combination of honey and spearmint glazes enhances the breezy, ocean-inspired feel, and I can’t get over how beautifully the honey glaze complements the hardwood floors. A turtle and octopus make an appearance among the 4x4 field tiles, along with other animals like a dolphin, crab and starfish.
