The Holden Arboretum's annual holiday art show begins this month. I am delighted that my tiles will be featured along with the work of many talented artists.  All of the work in the show is inspired by nature. The sale benefits local artists and the Holden Arboretum. The event runs from Nov. 19th through Jan. 8th. I am thrilled and honored to once again be a part of indigenous gallery's annual artTILE invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio. Over 30 tile artists will be featured in this years' show, which runs from April 30th- June 12th. This year I submitted a lot of gray tiles! Here is a sneak peek of the kiln being unloaded... If you live in northeast Ohio, consider visiting the Holden Arboretum during their annual holiday gift show and sale, "Gifts from the Heart of Nature," which runs from November 14th until January 3rd. I love the idea of being an "artist in action." That's me! This is the 6th year that I have had the pleasure of participating in indigenous gallery's annual artTILE extravaganza in Cincinnati, Ohio. It has been a huge honor for me to have my work shown alongside some of the best handmade tile art in the US. Darrell and I drove down over the weekend and we were truly blown away by the quality and diversity of work. This is a very special kitchen. I have been holding onto these photos for months, hesitating to post them out of fear that my write up won't do them justice. But the reality is, photos this nice speak for themselves! They need to be shared and now is the time. So without further ado, behold the kitchen of Sue and Ted R: The plant and animal themed tiles are all Emu Tile, naturally (glaze is "leaf green.) McKay Bricker Gallery, in Kent, Ohio has been very good to me. I am extremely grateful for all that gallery owners Cass and Bob have done to promote my art over the years, so I decided to express my appreciation by making a handmade tile version of their ubiquitous oval shaped Black Squirrel logo. If you live in Northeast Ohio you have almost certainly seen the design. Here in Kent, it seems as though ever other car has one of these bumper stickers: (this is the one on my car!) Oh my goodness, I can hardly believe that May is almost over and I haven't posted this yet. It is a great honor for me to be included in the talented group of tile artists whose work is currently being shown at indigenous gallery in Cincinnati, OH. I love the combination of glazes on these four 4"x4" tiles. Clockwise, from top left: 4"x4" Spring Oak in Cinnamon Glaze, 4"x4" Elm in Buckwheat Glaze, 4"x4" Tree of Life in Autumn Glaze, 4"x4" Willow in Northern Lights Glaze. These four glazes play well together and with natural material like stone or wood. On these four tree tiles, they almost create a four- seasons effect, though I am not exactly sure which tile would represent which season. I am planning to use one of these four glazes on my submissions to the upcoming artTILE exhibition at indigenous gallery in Cincinnati. So excited to...
