Kitchen Tiles Ideas

Anyone who knows me knows I love my hometown, so it is always especially gratifying when my tiles are installed here in Kent, Ohio. This kitchen even features a "Kent" tile in honor of our lovely little tree city. This kitchen renovation was a major project that spanned many months. This lovely kitchen is near Asheville, North Carolina. The multicolored handmade tiles were chosen to represent the flora and fauna in the mountains in that part of the state. The cream colored, square tiles in the center of the panel are antique tiles from an architectural salvage store, and the matching subway tile surround was made by Cevica. It's a rare treat for me to see my work installed, so I was delighted when these photographs showed up in my inbox! I especially like how the tile panel shares the space between two windows with a well-stocked spice rack. It creates a visual focus that is both fun and functional. It feels very balanced, and entirely appropriate for a kitchen. A bright assortment of plant and animal tiles are interspersed with plain ones in matching glazes to make a unique and cheerful (and very cleanable) backsplash for the range. This post is a long time coming! The homeowners contacted me at the end of last year, just as I was getting ready to pause taking new orders for a couple of months so I could work on a really big project. They were willing to wait, but they needed a very specific glaze color for their project. Normally, I don't do custom colors, but I had some glazes that were in the right color family left over from a recent public art project. I sent a few samples, and "Blue Isle" was the clear winner! As I have mentioned before, occasionally a customer will install my tiles in their home, then move, then order more tiles to install in their new home. As you can imagine, this makes me very happy! This client previously installed my tiles in her bathroom years ago. Recently, when she moved from Oregon to California, she decided to order more tiles from me. This time around, she went with a slightly different mix of designs and glazes and had them installed in her kitchen, as well as both her bathrooms! I have been using autumn glaze for almost 20 years and I love the warmth and richness it brings to a space, as well as how it harmonizes with wood and other natural materials. This kitchen is a great example of that! The backsplash was installed by the homeowner's daughter and I am impressed by what a good job she did. It always feels like Christmas to me when I get customer installation photos, and that is especially true today with these pictures! So glad Santa and Mrs Claus seem to approve of this snowy scene.There is a set of four tree tiles in both corners of this kitchen backsplash. The subtle colors and design layout work very well.
