Two Pairs of Herons
The installation pictures just keep coming! Within the last few days, I received two different sets of pictures of installed 4"x8" "Heron" tiles in Autumn glaze, so I decided to post sets at the same time. The first two photos feature a wet bar: The herons face each other in a field of white 2"x4" tiles. There are also three smaller 2"x2" feature tiles in autumn glaze that help to define the space. The homeowners designed and constructed this sweet little nook themselves. They even built these enviable cabinets: I love those old fashioned latches on the cupboards. What a neat mix of modern and traditional...
Handmade Tile Kitchen Backsplash with Honey Bees
There is an emphasis on hand- crafted details in this high-end kitchen. The homeowners decided to frame a herring- bone pattern above the cook top.... .... and installed a 2"x2" Bee tile in each corner of the frame! Thank you, T.O., for sharing your pictures! A Wetland Themed Kitchen
This is a very special kitchen. I have been holding onto these photos for months, hesitating to post them out of fear that my write up won't do them justice. But the reality is, photos this nice speak for themselves! They need to be shared and now is the time. So without further ado, behold the kitchen of Sue and Ted R: The plant and animal themed tiles are all Emu Tile, naturally (glaze is "leaf green.) The surrounding field tiles and decorative border tiles were made by another fine Ohio tile maker, Seneca Tile (glazes are "celadon," "eggshell," and "evergreen"). Over the stove...
Tree of Life Kitchen
It has been way too long since I have posted customer installation pictures! Especially since I have been sitting on some really nice ones, including these: This pretty kitchen features a classic color palette of white, black and gray. The backsplash is a consists a combination of painted wood paneling and tile. The tile above the cook top is a mix of natural stone and ceramic tile. The centerpiece is a 6"x6" "Tree of Life" tile made by yours truly. The picture at the top takes a closer look. I love how this installation shows you don't have to use a lot of handmade tiles...
Nature Inspired Kitchen
I had to dig deep in my email archives to find these gems. These kitchen installation photos arrived back in January, but somehow I forgot to post them right away. The beautiful weather and renewal of life in this wonderful month of May reminded me that it is time to share pictures of this nature inspired kitchen: Above the stove are three 4"x4" art tiles: "Turtle" in Autumn Glaze, "Frog" in Leaf Green Glaze, and "Dragonfly" in Cinnamon. All of these designs were chosen in part because the can be installed on the diagonal. The installer did a fantastic job...
Glorious Green Kitchen
It took about 2 months for me to complete this set of over 600 leaf green tiles. Fortunately the homeowner was willing to wait. And she was also kind enough to share pictures of the completed kitchen! She got the idea from this installation & I am impressed with how much it looks like the original concept, right down to the shallow condiment shelves on either side of the range: The 1"x6" border tiles around the shelves differ from the original installation, I made a new dot design for this job: (I smiled when I saw this picture, because I love nutiva...
A Cheery Celadon Kitchen
I can hardly believe I got these beautiful installation pictures almost a month ago and I am only now posting them! I am currently working on several large orders, so I have been focused on making as many tiles as possible in my tiny studio. Blogging and updating this website have definitely taken a backseat to tile production of late. But I today I realized I don't want to wait any longer to share this pretty kitchen with you: The homeowners, with the help of designer Patsay Zakian-Greenough, selected an assortment of celadon glazed art tiles. Each design had special significance for...
A Creamy Kitchen
When my lovely cousin, Andrea, sent me these pictures of her new kitchen, they nearly knocked my socks off! I haven't seen this kitchen in person , but from the pictures I can tell that it is a wonderfully inviting room, and I am thrilled that my tiles are part of it. It is hard to imagine a more perfect setting for a "Birds on a Branch" set in Buckwheat glaze. The light colored subway tiles are by Daltile. They are 3"x6" matte finish, and the color is almond, which harmonizes really well with the creamy art tiles. The texture in the stone...
