A Northern Kitchen

Today, instead of making tiles I am working on the website because Darrell and I are having some work done on the house and it has spilled over into the studio. I should be pounding clay again tomorrow, but in the meantime (since I have home improvement on the brain anyway) I will take this opportunity to share pictures of this uncommonly handsome kitchen in Northern Michigan.

What a wonderful mix of earth tones! The variety of natural textures really draw the eye and make a person want to sit for a spell in this warm and inviting room. An assortment of my handmade tiles are sprinkled among subtly textured white field tiles from another source.  Normally I try to take pictures of all the tiles I make before I ship them out, but I can't seem to find any close-ups of these. I do remember that the designs were carefully selected to echo the nature of the local surroundings.

It is delightful to know that my tiles have found a happy home in such a elegant kitchen. Every detail has obviously been carefully considered, so it means a lot that my work is included. Thank you, S.H.W. for being so lovely to work with, and for taking the time to send pictures!
