Handmade Tiles
Summer Break Ends
Happy first day of September! We have re-opened our online store and you are welcome to place an order. In the interest of full disclosure, we aren't quite finished putting the studio back together. It is still a bit completely empty. Sealing and staining the floor took a longer than we had anticipated, (pretty much every aspect of this project took longer than we anticipated!) but we are ready to start bringing my work tables, tile molds and shelves back in. I am SO READY to start making tiles again, but the studio won't be ready for another day or two. Thank you so...
A Baby Buffalo
It isn't really a baby, it is just very small. And it is actually a bison, if you want to get technical. But since I made him on request from the Graycliff Estate, which is located just outside Buffalo, New York, I am calling him a buffalo. As soon as Darrell and I get my studio put back together I will make a mold of this little guy. The studio should be ready for me to resume production one week from today, on September 1st, as planned. We will re-open the online store by 11:59pm on August 31st. I had planned to make a bunch of new tile designs...
Autumn Hearth
I can barely believe how far behind I am with posting customer installation photos! I am sitting on dozens of photos of beautiful installations that I have received over the last year or more. Why haven't I been posting them? Who knows! Mostly I have just been really busy making tiles. But I realize that since so many of my wonderful customers have taken the time to send pictures, the I really need to make the time to post them. One of my many goals for summer break is to catch up on posting installation pictures. Or, if I don't catch up completely, I can at least...
Summer Break Begins
Emu Tile LLC is taking our first ever summer break. We are *not* accepting new orders through the end of August. If you have already placed an order, don't worry, I am working on it! All outstanding orders will ship in July, then production will cease completely until September 1st so Darrell and I can do some important studio maintenance and enjoy the season. Emu Tiles will still be available at a number of bricks and mortar galleries during the break. You may want to call galleries before visiting to verify inventory. Thank you all so much for your support! You are the best. Have...
Summer Break Schedule
If you are planning a tile installation this summer, please place your order on or before June 30th. Orders received by the end of June will ship in July, and then we will be closed for business untilSeptember 1st. Darrell and I have decided the time has come to take a break from production to do some important studio mantinance, and also enjoy the season. If you have any questions, please contact me. Thank you for your support. Have a great summer! Here are some beachy tiles to put you in a summery mood.

Glaze Changes
The latest addition to our glaze collection is called "Honey," and we are very excited about it! It is a warm amber with brown highlights. We love how it brings out the details in the tiles. Here it is (above) on the "Dahlia" and "Honey Bee" handmade tiles. "Honey" is replacing the equally delicious sounding "Cinnamon" in our normal glaze lineup. "Cinnamon" is still available by special request, but the formulation has changed and it has gone from this..... ....to this: The new version is lighter and more matte than the old version. It is not bad, but it is different from all of the previous photos of "Cinnamon" glaze...
artTILE 2015
I love the idea of being an "artist in action." That's me! This is the 6th year that I have had the pleasure of participating in indigenous gallery's annual artTILE extravaganza in Cincinnati, Ohio. It has been a huge honor for me to have my work shown alongside some of the best handmade tile art in the US. Darrell and I drove down over the weekend and we were truly blown away by the quality and diversity of work. As a featured artist, I spent Saturday at the gallery, demonstrating my sculpting technique, meeting new people, and catching up with some of my Cincinnati friends and family. It was a fantastic weekend. Throughout the day,...
