Handmade Tiles

Sometimes new designs don't make it on the to website right away. For example, I created this new, 2x2 inch crow tile last fall and it is only now available through my online store.  What can I say? As I mentioned in my last blog post, I recently remade some of my sea creatures in the 3"x3" size by request. It was not a small undertaking; I had to re-sculpt my old designs one by one, and then pour seven new plaster molds. The whole project was fairly time consuming. The heron collection keeps growing because the heron tiles keep shrinking! The original tile (the 4"x8" heron facing left, which has been in production since April 2011) is pictured above next to one of my newest tiles, an adorably tiny 2"x4" interpretation of the same design. The process of creating these two inch by two inch tiles was very enjoyable, and I am pleased to be able to share the finished products with you now. There are three completely new designs in this set: the "Hawk", the "Bobcat", and the "Bear." The final design, "Napping Cat," was already available in the 3"x3" size. Now I can make it in the 2"x2" size as well. I spent the last day of 2018 packing tiles and feeling grateful. It is an amazing thing for me to have spent another year doing a job that I love, and it would not have been possible without the support I have received from all of you. The fact that people find my little website or see my tiles in a gallery and respond positively to what I am doing has made such a difference in my life. It is almost time for the Holden Arboretum to begin their annual art and craft sale. When you shop at the "Gifts From the Heart of Nature" you support local artists as well as one of the largest botanical gardens in the United States.  The show runs from Nov. 18 through Jan. 3, from 9-5, seven days a week.   

This may or may not be what is commonly referred to as  "Cape Cod" style house, but I can tell your for sure that it is located in beautiful Cape Cod, Massachusetts; a place that is famous for its salt marshes, pristine beaches and diverse flora and fauna.
