Ceramic Handmade Tile Installations

Really pleased that my tiles are a focal point in this inviting New Jersey living room. One of the homeowners is a shop teacher so he installed the tiles and woodwork himself with great care and precision. He sent a nice note along with the photos that said, "Everything came out the way we wanted and your tiles added a signature touch. We get a lot of compliments." I didn't make the grey field tiles, only the feature tiles. The next 3 photos were taken during the installation process.  Above and below are close ups of the feature tiles before they were grouted. ...

These photos came from a woman who discovered a passion for woodworking in retirement. All three of these pieces look like heirlooms to me. So honored she chose to make my tiles part of them! (She asked to remain anonymous since she doesn't sell any of her work.) Thank you so much, H. for sharing these photos!

Here is a little secret: a lot of the time I think my customers are more creative than I am. They always manage to install my tiles in new and wonderful ways that I never would have thought of! Take this installation, for example: The homeowners wanted their sophisticated new kitchen to have some earthy, arty, one-of-a-kind features that reflect who they are as people. They came up with the idea to inlay a grouping of art tiles behind the sink. Each tile represents a plant or animal that has meaning in their lives. And because they are fellow Ohioans,...

The tiles in this installation shipped several years ago. I remember this specific order because I thought the tiles came out so nicely that I took a picture and had it printed on promotional postcards which I send out with other tile orders. Since I see the picture of these tiles frequently, I often wondered where they ended up. My curiosity was satisfied last night when these remarkable pictures arrived in my inbox. The homeowners designed and built this staircase themselves, with help from Community Builders of Cedarville, Ca. They also installed tiles on the risers! The lighter colored field tiles...

Oh, how I love customer installation photos! Pictures of this lovely shower just arrived in my inbox and I couldn't be more pleased. The homeowner mixed some of my 2"×2" feature tiles in leaf green glaze with tiles from other manufacturers. Not sure who made the subway tiles, but the green glass tiles are Merola "forest." Love how the stripe of feature tiles is right at eye level!  I wanted to call this set of photos "emerald bath" because the band of green reminds me of an emerald necklace, but the colors are closer to forest green than emerald.  Whatever you...

Getting pictures of this kitchen put a smile on my face. It is always a delight to receive customer installation photos! What a thrill and honor to see the creative ways that people integrate my tiles into their homes. These particular homeowners ordered 4x4 inch maple leaf tiles in autumn glaze, then asked their installer to spread them randomly throughout their kitchen backsplash, as if they were sent fluttering by a gentle fall breeze. The installer suggested turning them in all different directions to really give the feel of leaves in fall. The field tiles are by another Ohio tile company...

My snail and frog tiles aren't usually oriented on the diagonal. For this special request, I modified them once they were out of their molds by cutting off the corners and reattaching them to make a diamond shape. (I promise I usually don't cut corners!) Only about a week after I sent these tiles out, I received these beautiful installation pictures in my inbox: I love the contrast between the black slate field tiles and white cupboards and feature tiles. The lighting in this room must be amazingly good, because these pictures really bring out the detail in the white feature...
