The client wanted to create the look of a vintage fireplace in her home, so she found an antique mantle to install, and filled it with handmade tiles made by me and Clay Squared to Infinity. She's clearly an animal lover, so she selected primarily animal designs in different shades of green, then picked compatible field tiles. I love how the blues and greens blend together, and how all the tiles combine with the wood and metal elements in the hearth.
The plant and animal tiles were made by me and are glazed in "spearmint." They are 2x2 and 4x4 inches in size.
The "plain" field tiles and 2x2 inches in size and were made by Clay Squared to Infinity. The glazes for the field tiles are: Clay Robin's Egg, Copper Patina, Levi Patina, and Aurora Borealis.
This project full of whimsy, yet also feels classic. The cats seem to approve!
Big thanks to M.I. and your kitty helpers! I love what you've done with the tiles.
Even though my "week of gratitude" is coming to an end, I am going to keep posting customer installation photos regularly through the end of the year, or until I get though my backlog. Thank you to everyone who has sent photos! I appreciate it greatly.
