A Rainbow Kitchen

At first glance, it looks like the homeowners played it safe with the color scheme in this kitchen. It has lovely, neutral colored cabinets, countertops, flooring and backsplash:

But look a little closer, and you will see that this kitchen has a colorful secret! The backsplash is sprinkled with an assortment of bright little handmade two inch by two inch tiles featuring leaves and flowers. Here they are before they were installed...

I love how the red tiles pick up on the red knobs of the range.

Here are some even closer views of the tiles:

And here is the closest close up of all; a 2"x2" pine tile in leaf green glaze:

These colorful tiles add just the right amount of playfulness to this kitchen!

The homeowners sent this nice note along with the photos:

Thank you so much for your help with our kitchen remodel!! Your tiles are just what we wanted to bring a nature and color into our mountain home!! We love them! Your plant and animal tiles celebrate this gorgeous world we are blessed to live in!!

Your red maple tiles just mirrored the magical red maple leaves we have had on the trees around our house the last month! The red tiles look wonderful with the red Wolf knobs on our oven and stovetop!!

We had a great time deciding which direction to turn each kind of leaf, so all of the maple leaves are turned the same way, etc. We also had fun “randomly” positioning them! It took hours!! One rule we made was that all of the 6 kinds had to go under the hood above the stove, and all 6 had to go to the right of the sink and also to the left of the sink.

Thank you so much, C. and S.! It is an honor for me to know that my tiles have such a prominent a place in your beautiful, happy home.
