When I received these lovely pictures of an Arts and Crafts hearth from Jeanne in Maine, I felt anything but blue! It is always super exciting for me when I get to see my work installed. These pictures were extra thrilling because this is the first time I have seen most of these particular tiles in a finished project. And what a project this is! The hearth creates a unique focal point in an appealing & airy space....
Here is an overall view, showing the handcrafted oak mantle, a charming painting of an ocean scene, and of course, handmade tiles! Here are some close ups of the tiles...
Above the firebox, there are Ladybug, Grasshopper, Caterpillar, and Dragonfly tiles all in Pacific Blue Glaze. (Ladybug and Caterpillar were adapted to the 3"x3" size for this installation.) The 3"x3" field tiles are also handmade and glazed in Watercolor Blue.
On the sides of the firebox, a pair of 3"x6" herons face each other (and the fire.) These two were also adapted to this size with this installation in mind.
Here are more close ups of the 3"x3" Bug tiles:

The Pacific Blue and Watercolor Blue glazes paired together remind me of the ocean and the sky. Here one more picture of the whole beachy scene:
I realize I am biased, but I love this hearth and what it adds to the room. Thank you so much for sending these photos, Jeanne! You were a joy to work with, and I am so happy to see what you did with the tiles I made. I greatly appreciate the fact that you took the time to share.
