Arts and Crafts Tile

Yesterday the post office was closed, but that didn't stop us from making a tile delivery. Darrell and I took advantage of the nice weather to drive these three boxes of tiles to Ginko Gallery in Oberlin, OH. This packing job would not have been adequate for the mail, but it worked just fine for us yesterday. We have a tradition of delivering tiles to Ginko Gallery in person whenever possible. It is the first gallery ever to carry my work, so we have been going there for over a decade. We try to visit at least once a year....

Frames are now available! If you would like to order a tile framed in a beautiful, Ohio-made, craftsman style oak frame, you can do it two different ways. First, we are now carrying these frames and have added them to our online shopping cart. If place an order though our website, you should be able to check box that adds a frame for an additional fee. Last week, my dear friend, Mandi brought some art materials over to my house so we could catch up with each other while we both worked. (Craft dates are so fun! Note to self: I need to hang out with more local artists.)  She shot some footage with her iphone of me working, then she quickly edited it into a tiny video for me. In my last post, I said I would post some "in-progress" photos of the new 4"x4" tile I am working on for the retail shop at Frank Lloyd Wright's Graycliff Estate, which is located near Buffalo, New York. This is a very special kitchen. I have been holding onto these photos for months, hesitating to post them out of fear that my write up won't do them justice. I had to dig deep in my email archives to find these gems. These kitchen installation photos arrived back in January, but somehow I forgot to post them right away. The beautiful weather and renewal of life in this wonderful month of May reminded me that it is time to share pictures of this nature inspired kitchen: Above the stove are three 4"x4" art tiles: "Turtle" in Autumn Glaze, "Frog" in Leaf Green Glaze, and "Dragonfly" in Cinnamon.
