Handmade Tile

Wood and tile, that is!  Especially tile that is glazed it our most popular glaze, Autumn.  Here are some examples of tiles inlaid in natural woodwork in a variety of settings.  First up, a lovely hearth. The homeowner incorporated five of my 4"x4" art tiles into his hand built fireplace surround. In this corner:  "Hemlock" And In this corner:  "White Pine" In the center:  "Dragonfly,"  "Tree of Life,"  "Turtle" In the same home, there is an amazing handcrafted doorway that also makes use of my 4"x4" art tiles in the Autumn Glaze: In this picture:   "Wildflower"  All of the above...

At least that is what happened to me when I opened an email and saw this amazing art tile installation. Halloween is close, and let's look at some of our handmade art tiles that have a Halloween connection. Why handmade art tiles are fun #3. All tiles are shown in Autumn glaze which has a wide variation in colors like the changing leaves of Autumn.  The bat, has been a staple of Halloween decorations for a long time! As many of you know, these animals are beneficial, but we can't help thinking of Dracula turning into a bat. Some other animal tiles have ties to Halloween. Hand made art tile are excellent because they make a home personalized. Reason #2 of 101 reasons art tile are great.Here is a swell article found in a local Patch.com for Monrovia.The article shows some excellent pictures of historical Batchelder tiles which are very beautiful as they have the appearance of stone or perhaps something out of the Lord of the Rings. Notice in the pictures the subtle earth tone glazes. This is surely the tile of Rivendell. Here are pictures from a customer who loves art, and has a knack for displaying it her home.  In her kitchen, she had 4"X4" tree themed art tiles installed along with stone field tile, with fantastic results.
